General Orders, No. 214 (U.S. War Department) (1863) (July 10, 1863)

On July 10, 1863, the U.S. War Department issued General Orders, No. 214, announcing that Major General Edward O.C. Ord had replaced Major General John A. McClernand as commander of the 13th Army Corps.

Washington, July 10, 1863

By Direction of the President of the United States, Major General E.O.C. Ord is appointed to the command of the Thirteenth Army Corps, in place of Major General John A. McClernand, relieved, to date from June 18, 1863.
