About this Gallery
On April 14, 1865, a group of conspirators led by John Wilkes Booth carried out assassination attempts on President Abraham Lincoln and other members of his cabinet. That night, the President and the First Lady were attending a play at Ford’s Theater when Booth forced his way into the President’s box and shot Lincoln. This collection of images shows the location of the President’s assassination and other artifacts from that ill-fated night in our nation’s history.
